Colorado fashion photography: presenting Miss Modernism!

[ fashion photography in Denver ]

Here's Denver's reigning Miss Modernism, Jaime Askvig! We did this photo shoot last weekend in Denver with the help of our mutual friend Jenn. Jaime is as in love with mid-century modern style as I am, and between the two of us I think we have enough 1950's-60's clothing, jewelry and accessories to start our own vintage shop.

This shoot was a blast! I couldn't resist making a faux Vogue cover out of one of my favorite shots. Congratulations Jaime on your win, you're the best Miss Modernism ever!

Don't you love the robin's egg blue dress?!? It's handmade! The purse belonged to my mom in the 1960's.

So ladylike!

That's actually a candy cigarette. I "lit" it in Photoshop.

To get this expression I told Jaime to look out the window, the cabana boy is out there and he just took off his shirt ;^)

I really like this shot. Jaime looks FABULOUS.

I just opened the book to a random page and instructed Jaime to look shocked. It turns out I had landed on the most scandalous part of the book (if you've read Peyton Place, you know what part I'm talking about). Funny!

Jaime's red opera cloak is to DIE for!

Jaime's mom made the sash for her. The tiara was part of her winnings, and the necklace belonged to her grandmother.

Colorado Springs family portraits: Baby M at 6 months!

[ baby pictures in Colorado Springs ]

I'm chronicling Baby M's first year and haven't seen him since November. I didn't think it was humanly possible for him to get any cuter than he was then, but clearly I was wrong! He's just adorable and I want to pinch his chubby little cheeks all day long. We did these portraits in the client's home, and M was a real superstar! So was the family dog, Louie, who steals a little piece of my heart every time I see him. I can't wait for M's first birthday -- imagine how much fun that's going to be!

Just look at those big blue eyes!

Oh he is so darn cute.

Those chubby cheeks just kill me.

Louie, the family puggle. I want to kidnap him and take him home with me!

Garden of the Gods engagement portraits: Lisa & David

[ engagement portraits in the Garden of the Gods ]

These two lovebirds are getting married in Texas this coming October. Since neither of them live here, Lisa and David asked for gorgeous Colorado scenery and sunshine in their engagement portraits. Happy to oblige!

A pretty amazing background! I'm so lucky to live here :o)

Aren't they cute?

Colorado Springs engagement portraits: Jenn & Marin

[ engagement portraits Colorado Springs ]

I'm looking forward to Marin and Jenn's wedding this summer in Manitou. What a cute couple! They met in college (they're both geniuses, by the way -- no way could I have survived School of Mines) and are clearly mad for each other. I love how he makes her laugh! My brother Chuck suggested the location we used for most of these, and they came out great. Thanks Chuck!

Showing off the bling. Marin is such a goofball.

One of my favorite engagement portraits ever.

I love her reflection in the window glass. So happy!

Who's the boss?!?

See how she looks at him? That's love, baby!

Colorado Springs engagement portraits - Morgan & Mark

[ engagement portaits in Colorado Springs ]
Lately I've been doing engagement portraits for some very cute couples -- like these guys! Mark and Morgan are getting married next month at the Air Force Academy, and if this shoot was any indication, we are going to have a BLAST on their wedding day. Morgan and Mark, you guys are way too cute ;o)

Morgan really does giggle this much. I love it.

I love this one! Adorable!
