Erin + Christopher: Engaged!

[ Colorado Springs wedding photography ]

These two lovebirds are getting married on September 5th at the Briarhurst -- I can't wait, 'cause you know it's going to be a stylish wedding! We did their engagement portraits a couple of weeks ago at Red Rock Canyon and at the Manitou arcade on a VERY rainy day. Aren't they a cute couple?

A baby for Jen and Simo!

[ Boulder portrait photographer ]

Jennifer and Simone's 2006 Denver wedding was one of my favorites of all time -- what a great party that was! They were married at Cheesman Park in Denver and I had a blast documenting it, so I was tickled to get an e-mail from them last month asking for maternity portraits. Such a nice surprise to hear the great news! We took these portraits last week at their charming home in south Boulder. Baby is due on September 1st and I can't wait!

Simone is Italian. For those of you who don't speak the language, his name is pronounced see-MOH-nay, or Simo for short. Their son will have an Italian name too, but I won't give it away until after he arrives. Since they are doing a Baby's First Year package, you'll get to watch him grow along with me :o)

I know this has nothing to do with maternity portraits, but I couldn't resist getting a snap of their adorable cat.

I would say that pregnancy becomes Jen. She looks great!

They're going to have a beautiful baby! The teddy bear belonged to Jen when she was a child.

The light in their upstairs hallway was downright cinematic. Love it.

Evelyn + Erik's wedding at the Pinery

[ Colorado wedding photographer ]

I'm blogging a little out of order -- please forgive. So far it's been a pretty crazy summer! Here are some of my favorite images from Evelyn and Erik's long-anticipated wedding at the Pinery on June 28th. Evelyn was such a beautiful bride. Few women can carry off a voluminous ball gown like she did. She looked like a regal princess. Gorgeous. It's a good thing she found a tall, handsome guy like Erik! I really loved the colors they chose, green and purple. I'm not usually a fan of purple, but Evelyn changed my mind on that color with her shoes alone!

Congrats Evelyn and Erik, your day was perfectly fabulous!

Ceremony and reception venue: The Pinery in Black Forest, CO
Bridal gown: Maggie Sottero, from Bridal Elegance
Bride's hair: Felicia at J Gregory Salon
Makeup: Crystal Dvorak at Beauty on the Spot
Bridesmaids' hair: Darcie Romberg at Beauty on the Spot
Bridesmaids' attire: Mori Lee, from Something New Boutique
Tuxedos: Al's Formal Wear
Cake: Bella Cakes
Flowers: Catherine Schneider at The Pinery

Check out Evelyn's awesome shoes!

Those corseted gowns are tricky.

A little downtime before the ceremony. Photo by my assistant, Allison.

Instead of a traditional guest book, guests signed a photo album and then posed for a picture to be displayed next to their signature.

Evelyn got a little emotional during her vows. Awesome capture by Allison!

The kiss!

We did most of the bridal portraits indoors because a violent thunderstorm had just passed over us. I love window light!

Evelyn's gown was spectacular.

Ian & Mary Lou's wedding at the Broadmoor

[ Colorado wedding photographer ]

Ian and Mary Lou's July 4th wedding in Florissant and at the Broadmoor was one of the coolest events I've ever covered. Their hilltop ceremony was officially the first wedding I've ever shot while wearing Converse! Later that evening, their reception at the Broadmoor was as elegant as you could imagine.
Ian is also a wedding photographer, so I was very flattered when they asked me to document their special day. He did almost all the planning too, so all Mary Lou had to do on the big day was show up in a white dress!

Their casual morning ceremony took place on the five beautiful acres they own outside of Florissant. It was quite a hike! Guests sat on cloth-covered hay bales, and Mary Lou wore a retro-looking bridesmaid dress from David's bridal. The gorgeous formal wedding gown she wore for the party that evening came from Kleinfeld in New York City.

What a great day! Congratulations Ian and Mary Lou!

Event planner: Nada Gutierrez, RSVP Weddings
Floral design: Rhonda Nichols
Bride's ceremony dress: David's Bridal
Bride's reception dress: Kleinfeld Bridal Manhattan
Reception venue: The Broadmoor
DJ services: A Music Plus

The ceremony began as Mary Lou and her bridesmaids made their way through the forest.

My assistant Allison captured Ian's reaction as Mary Lou crested the hill on the arms of her parents.

Vows, accompanied by happy tears.

Ian had gifted his groomsmen with some swell pocket knives the night before; after the ceremony they insisted on an impromptu "pocket knife arch" for the bride and groom.

Showing off their rings.

Ian's dad Herb climbed onto a boulder and made a champagne toast.

The newlyweds and all their guests.

My assistant Allison, looking like a rock star.

Photographer Ian couldn't resist borrowing my camera to take a few pictures of his bride. He managed to catch me in the background trying to run out of the frame. Yes, that is my butt. I wasn't fast enough!

Later on in the day, the Broadmoor looked rather majestic swathed in mist!

Ian brought more photography gear than I did.

First time seeing each other in their evening finery!

Ian wore monogrammed cufflinks and his grandfather's heirloom watch.

I think this is hilarious.

One of their wedding guests went thrifting at the Leech Pit here in town and came up with this groovy outfit. (I want that purse.)
