Allison + Andy

A couple of weekends ago I had the pleasure of second shooting for the fabulous Autumn Burke at Andy and Allison's Planet Bluegrass wedding in Lyons, Colorado. I'd never even heard of Planet Bluegrass, let alone been there. What a cool venue! It's verdant and rustic in a Colorado sort of way, and the Lyons River runs right through the property. There are wildflowers everywhere.

I totally fell in love with the happy couple too! Allison's an art teacher, and you can see how creative she is by the attention she paid to fantastic little details like parasols, menus and place cards. Andy owns a skate shop -- it doesn't get much hipper than that!

Congrats Andy and Allison! I'm so happy to have been a small part of your big day.

Planet Bluegrass must have been a farm at one time, because there's a silo in the middle of the giant lawn. Here's a shot looking upward through the silo.

Allison's bouquet featured multicolored ribbons wound round the stems.

In a nod to Andy's passion for skating, all the guys wore Vans.

They opted for western shirts instead of tuxes.

First glimpse.

A couple of Andy's groomsmen hopped on a tricycle and rode through the pre-ceremony portraits.

Parasols were at the ready to shield guests from sun or rain.

The ceremony took place right on the banks of the Lyons River.

The moms, moments after the ceremony.

Allison replaced her veil with this chic head headpiece for the party.

The clever menus.

John loves Gretchen!

Gretchen and John were married June 6th at Pauline Chapel in the Broadmoor, with their reception at the beautiful Garden of the Gods Club. All I can say is WOW! It was a perfect day, everything went so smoothly and everyone was so happy! I had a lot of fun documenting all the joy and the craziness. Congratulations you two!

Wedding ceremony venue: Pauline Chapel
Wedding reception venue: The Garden of the Gods Club
Flowers: Gentry's Flowers, Inc.
Bride's gown and veil: 2Be Bride at The Bridal Collection
Bride's shoes: Benjamin Adams at Bellisima

Directly after the ceremony -- they look so happy!

My assistant Sarah took this adorable picture of the flower girls while I was setting up a big group shot.

Another great capture by Sarah.

Getting into the limo...

and getting out of the limo. Hmmm, there seems to be a recurring theme here.

The hilarious cake topper.

The Garden of the Gods Club by night. Wow!

Aaron + Kelly

These two lovebirds are getting married in August at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Aren't they cute? We did their engagement portraits in downtown Denver a couple of weekends ago. The story behind the photo above is that I got stuck in traffic on the way to meeting them at Starbucks, and had plenty of time to brainstorm picture ideas! I came up with the concept of showing off Kelly's awesome engagement ring by way of a cup of coffee. The rest of the pictures were taken as we roamed around near the 16th Street Mall. They were such troopers, happy to smooch for the camera! Aaron and Kelly, I can't wait for the wedding!

Lia Sophia

I'm not really a product photographer, but when my friend Marian asked me to do a shoot to promote her jewelry business I thought it might be fun. Lia Sophia produces hip, trendy jewelry and accessories sold by independent dealers, much like Mary Kay or Avon. Marian sells a ton of it and I can see why. After doing this shoot I wanted to be paid in jewelry! The beautiful model is Theresa, owner of Illusions Salon where Marian works. Looking good Theresa! You go girl!

Hudson Gardens

Last Thursday I accompanied my friend Charlotte to Hudson Gardens in Littleton. Charlotte is a photographer too, and she will be shooting a wedding there in a couple of weeks -- we were there so she could meet with her client. As for me, this is the first time I've ever been to Hudson Gardens in a non-work capacity. The only time I ever go there is to shoot a wedding, so I took advantage of the beautiful day to walk around and snap pictures of all the wonderful trees, plants and flowers that are just coming into high bloom. What a beautiful place! Whether you're looking for a wedding venue or not, I think you should go and check it out sometime. It's open to the public. FYI, I took all of these pictures with just a little pocket camera. You don't need a lot of expensive equipment to take good pictures of such a pretty place!

A note to my clients and regular readers: I've been nominated as Colorado Springs' Best Photographer, so if you'd like to vote for me you can do so here: http://kxrm.cityvoter.com/click-photography/biz/304710

Thanks! Tamera

Gorgeous gold and burgundy Irises. FYI the purple, globe-shaped flowers in the photo at the top of this post are allium. They don't smell pretty (they are in the garlic family), so deer won't eat them. I always thought they looked like Hostess Snowballs or whatever those pink marshmallow puffy things are called.

Salvia, which grows very well here in Colorado. Can you find the bee in this picture?

I'm not positive but I think this is brunnera, which appreciates shade and blooms profusely in the spring.

I was absolutely charmed to come across miniature trains at Hudson Gardens! I think I could sit there all day and watch them go back and forth.

One of the many beautiful water features.

Papaver. What ravishing blooms, and oh! The color!

Bee balm loves a nice sunny spot.

Check out these gorgeous peonies! So romantic.

Yarrow. I have the same in my xeric garden.

Mallow (or cranesbill, if you prefer).

Mallow in front, and I believe spirea in the background.

Max turns one!

Look at this big boy! Max's parents, Angie and Jordan, had me do some portraits to mark his first birthday, and oh he is sooooooooo cute. We did these at a park near their home in Denver on Sunday the 31st. Max is a really active little guy, I had my hands full on this portrait shoot! He's all roly poly and dimply -- I love his chubby little cheeks and cheerful smile. Don't you just want to pick him up and squeeze him?

Max was pretty much running around like this the entire time, with a huge smile on his face. He had us in stitches.

He loved the bubbles!

Isn't this hilarious?!?

Tyler is two!

Some of my favorite longtime clients, Courtney and Michael (I shot their wedding in October of 2004), had me do some portraits of their son Tyler to commemorate his second birthday. I haven't seen Tyler since the portraits I did of him at three months old. Well, time surely flies. I was so tickled to see how much he has grown since then! He's very chipper, and every inch the little boy. He's also very two, if you know what I mean! So independent and full of energy!

We took these portraits on a rainy day last weekend. Since it was too soggy to shoot at any of my regular locations, we decided to venture to Manitou, where the rain had already come and gone. Tyler was undaunted by the weather. It was a lot of fun following him around and capturing his two-ness!

[To see Tyler's three month portraits click here. FYI these have my old logo on them.]

What goes up...

must come down!

Tyler the explorer.

We asked him, "Where's Tyler?" and this is what he did. Cute!

I think this photo is soooooo cute.

Isn't this adorable? He's sniffing his flower and flirting with the camera. Heartbreaker!
